We made a wrong hiring decision, yet we didn’t end up firing him.
The work history of a candidate made us hired him for a contract, and we lost the money on that project.
He thought he was getting fired the next day. He walked into the office, looking depressed and ready for the worse.
He said to me,” I’m sorry; I failed you. He was talking when I interrupted and calmed him down. It is okay; let ‘s move forward. We are a team. If we win, we win together, and vice-versa.
We revisited his failed project and evaluated. We saw he wasn’t suitable for the project, but he was right in sales based on his workability.
I changed his role and assigned a new project to him. Two months later, he closed a significant deal for us. It tripled the amount of money we lost on the previous project. He was very successful in the new position we contracted out to him.
If we had kicked him out, we wouldn’t have seen the better side of him. Indeed, Patience is the key to a successful business.
Some people need time to grow. As a leader, if you are not patient with your team, you might find it hard to get the best out of them because every business takes time.
The ability to see people beyond the result is what makes you a winner.
